Privacy Policy

On your device

To keep your voyage, Master Wine saves the following on your device:

• the sailor name you type (it never has to be your real name);
• your study progress: steps completed, answers, streaks, trophies, Corks and quests;
• the bottles you add to your cellar and your tasting notes (bottle photos stay on your device only);
• your settings, such as language, sound and celebration style;
• a random identifier for that installation.

Until you sign in, all of it stays on your device. It is not sent to any server, and we, the developer, cannot see it.

Signing in (optional)

Settings → Account offers Sign in with Apple and Sign in with Google. Signing in is never required; every lesson, quiz and exam works without it.

When you sign in, Apple or Google confirms who you are and shares a user ID, your name and your email address with us. With Apple you can choose Hide My Email, and we then receive a relay address; Google also shares the link to your profile picture. We never see your Apple or Google password.

We then store, in our database hosted by Supabase:

• your account: that ID, name and email address;
• a plan record (currently always the free plan);
• a copy of your voyage: your sailor name, progress and settings, with the installation identifier of each phone you use.

This is used for one thing: to save your voyage and bring it back when you sign in on another phone. We do not send marketing email and do not use the data for anything else.

Data we collect

Only when you are signed in, and matching the App Privacy label on the App Store:

• Contact info — name and email address;
• Identifiers — user ID and a random installation ID used for sync;
• Usage data — your study progress;
• Other user content — the bottle details and tasting notes you enter. Bottle photos stay on your device and are not synced.

All of it is linked to your account and used for app functionality only. Nothing is used for tracking, advertising or analytics: the app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking software, and we never sell or share personal information.

Who else handles it

Apple and Google, as your sign-in provider, under their own privacy policies. Supabase, which hosts our database and processes the data on our behalf. No one else receives it.

Logging out and deleting

To delete your account and data, see how to delete your account.

• Settings → Log out removes the copy of your voyage from that device; your account keeps it for the next sign-in.
• Settings → Delete account erases your account, the copy of your voyage in our database and everything on the device, immediately and with no way back.
• Without an account, Settings → Delete all my data erases everything the app keeps on the device, and Reset my voyage clears the progress but keeps your name and settings.
• Deleting the app removes everything stored on the device. An account you created stays until you delete it, in the app or by emailing us at the address below.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept for as long as your account exists, and erased when you delete the account.

Microphone

Master Wine never records audio and never asks for microphone access. The sound library that plays the app's effects includes microphone support, so iOS requires the app to describe it; that feature is not used.

Children

Master Wine is a study aid about wine, made for adults. It is not directed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page and in the app with a new effective date. The policy is also in the app: Settings → Privacy policy.
